Painter III (Part-Time)

Solomon Group is searching for a talented and experienced ​Painter III to join our growing team.

The Painter III is responsible for producing high-end finishes to our custom built stages and and exhibit components in house using the latest techniques coupled with superior craftsmanship. Our team members get their hands dirty every day, physically turning raw materials into beautiful scenic elements. This is our magic workshop...the place where plans sketches and renderings emerge as full-scale project components, ready for installation.

At Solomon Group, we work on several productions at once. So you must be quick on your feet (and with your hands), motivated, thrive in a deadline-driven environment and enjoy new and creative ways to employ your skill set. You must have the ability to come up with creative solutions, thrive in a fast paced environment and most of all, be truly passionate about events.  A flexible schedule is also a must since most of our projects take place during nights, weekends and holidays. This is a part-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with the Prepper to make sure the right products are used on each piece with proper material handling and preparations to get items finished on all materials including wood, MDF, various metals and plastics.
  • Responsible for preparing all materials to be painted.
  • See specific prep sheets in the SOP Binder for various materials including wood, MDF, metals and plastics.
  • Communicate regularly with the sprayers about what type of paint will be used on each piece.
  • Learns proper gun cleaning.
  • Upkeep of the mixing station.
  • Responsible for latex painting in the shop as far as back painting and rolling flats.
  • Responsible for the finishing of all pieces in the spray booth.
  • Keeps the shop walls and floor clean, helps with booth upkeep such as changing filters, and helps the crew out whenever they need an extra set of hands.
  • Complete repetitive tasks with minimal supervision after initial setup.
  • Work in a safe, positive manner showing respect to others and contributing to the team.
  • Assist with and work on show sites as needed.
  • Occasionally work on installation sites in assisting our fabrication project managers.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of custom paint mixing and different methods of spraying
  • Knowledge of basic building techniques.
  • Basic measuring, dimensioning, and efficient materials usage knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of use and safety for basic hand and power tools.
  • Ability to recognize and select the proper materials required for the job.
  • Willing to work extended shifts and nights / weekends as needed to me deadlines

Metal Fabrication Foreman

The Metal Fabrication Foreman is responsible for leading a team of Metal Fabricators building custom stage and exhibit components in house using the latest techniques coupled with superior craftsmanship. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise all shop personnel in daily activities
  • Assist in the bidding process when necessary.
  • Collaborate and assist team in troubleshooting and development of all technical manufacturing requirements including, programming, tool selection, technical advice, instruction and training on set-up, operation and efficient use of shop equipment.
  • Assists in making decisions on types and specifications of new tools.
  • Request manpower from Scheduler.
  • Controls Production efficiency planning, job routing & expediting.
  • Trains and develop team members.
  • Inspects work orders for quality and quantity.
  • Analyzes work problems and recommends solutions and /or disciplinary action.
  • Plan stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; notifying appropriate Purchaser of needed stock.
  • Adhere to company standards and policies in order to maintain specifications required for varying levels of precision from project to project.
  • Involved in recruiting, hiring and training his/her employee's to successfully and efficiently complete jobs.
  • Serves as a "go-between" with workers and Project Leads and Managers
  • Serves as the main point of contact for his/her respective department.
  • Responsible for monitoring the progress through their department of a project as well as the quality of all finished materials entering and exiting his/her department each time.
  • Must ensure that all employees are qualified and knowledgeable about their roles.
  • Assigns tasks/jobs to their department members according to each person's respective skill set.
  • Issues reports and progress updates to Project Leads (including any problems that they may uncover with drawings, materials, etc)
  • Maintenance on machinery and equipment as necessary.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience leading and effectively motivating a Metal Fabrication team, coordinating work flow, motivating crews on-site, and enforcing strict deadlines.
  • Have knowledge of MIG/TIG welding for aluminum, carbon steel and stainless steel.
  • Ability to read blueprints aka drawings.
  • Ability to run several jobs in the shop at times.

Event Technical Director

JOB SUMMARY

Solomon Group is searching for a talented and experienced Event Technical Director to add to our growing team.

The Event Technical Director is responsible for the overall organization of the technical production process and a leader on the events team. The ideal candidate will possess 4+ years experience with technical management in events, production or broadcast environments. Their responsibilities include ensuring that every technical element is designed to work flawlessly for each event. They play a key role in a project from conception of ideas, pre-production, budgeting, on-site execution and ultimately closure of the project. The Event Technical Director must have the ability to identify and pursue the best possible balance between creative concepts, technical capabilities and budgeting.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and monitor all technical aspects of event technical design and logistics from project kickoff to closing session based on client vision and budget requirements
  • Be a leading voice with clients, establishing trust and confidence in the technical team’s capabilities
  • Oversee and participate in developing proposals, preparing budgets, and expanding service offerings
  • Support internal departments by ensuring technical targets and requirements are met
  • Collaborate with the creative team to develop technical plans that bring a client’s business objectives to life
  • Advises team on best practices for scenic elements, effects, lighting, sound, rigging, staging, video, etc.
  • Set technical deadlines and schedules that enable high-quality work while keeping the project on time and on budget
  • Develops the project based on budget, design and safety requirements
  • Provides technical cost data for client proposals based on inputs from project and creative teams, ensuring all aspects of the project have been included
  • Creates, oversees and archives the following production-related documents: schedules, calendars, technical labor lists, equipment lists, lighting plots, sound designs, room layouts, equipment rentals, site request lists, scenic designs, etc.
  • Coordinates scheduling of all on-site staff, including technical vendors and freelancers
  • Leads on-site load-in, operation and strike of equipment to include: overseeing all crew and department leads, executing show calls, and preparing the strike lead
  • Serves as an operator for shows as needed
  • Performs other job-related duties as needed or assigned

IDEAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Technical Production, Theatre Technology, or Video or Lighting or Sound Design preferred but not required

  • Proven track record with budgeting with full understanding of how the budget impacts technical decisions

Solomon Group is searching for a talented and experienced Director of Live Events to join our growing team.

The Director of Live Events is responsible for leading a team providing creative and innovative direction in development of projects, shows, and events from inception, show concept, production all the way to execution. The ideal candidate enjoys working with clients from diverse industries, handling multiple projects at once, excels at problem solving, and thrives in a deadline-driven environment.  All while helping develop a world class team.

We are seeking a high-performer committed to delivering authentic, world-class experiences for our clients. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five (5) years of experience directing live entertainment experiences which includes a variety of successful events produced in diverse environments. This is a full-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversight and general management of the Live Events Division;
  • Deliver best-in-class experiences to exceed our clients expectations;
  • Set the strategic direction and goals for the team;
  • Lead a diverse team of professionals with emphasis on team development helping to achieve professional and personal goals. Teams include Production Operations, Production Design, Warehouse, and Event Operations teams;
  • Have P&L ownership for the Live Events Division;
  • Drafting production schedules;
  • Ensuring that productions are cost-effective by optimizing resource utilization and adjusting schedules as needed;
  • Partner in recruiting, Interviewing and hiring world class  team members;
  • Establishing and implementing standard operating procedures for all assigned productions;

RESPONSIBILITIES

Account Manager (Remote)

We’re an out of the box kind of company, so we’re looking for an experienced Account Manager who can build on a solid foundation with our clients, grow our business with them, and sell our unique approach to live corporate events, and exhibits and environments -  B2B and B2C. We’re looking for a solid performer who excels at effectively building and maintaining client relationships, managing projects, and serving as the key day-to-day contact for clients.

This is a full-time position that can be worked from a remote location in the United States. This position reports to the Vice President, Customer Success.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with clients from diverse industries, is comfortable handling multiple projects at once, and thrives in a deadline-driven environment.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Grow new business - this position will field all inbound new business inquiries and qualify, process, and manage these inquiries as appropriate
  • Work with clients to plan and coordinate details of Exhibits and Environments and Live Events in conjunction with the assigned Project Manager and manage relationships with clients throughout the planning process and beyond
  • Seek out, identify and implement opportunities for proactive account management
  • Grow accounts and their profitability
  • Develop direct, solid relationships with key client contacts
  • Develop and maintain relationships with new clients and team members
  • Ensure timely, cohesive, and coherent communications with clients and the team
  • Plan and execute account plans to enhance profitability, productivity and efficiency

Contract Attorney

JOB SUMMARY

Solomon Group is searching for a talented and experienced ​Contract Attorney to join our growing team. The Contract Attorney primarily provides legal support for company business operations. This person will manage contract administration and provide guidance on complex contracts.

The Contract Attorney works closely with legal counsel to prepare, negotiate, and administer commercial and government contracts in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.  Additionally, this person will review risk across the organization and help to ensure appropriate policies and controls are in place through working with other department heads.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage contracts and legal matters
  • Draft, facilitate the negotiation of, remit, and file contracts for clients, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Review and edit terms and conditions sheets
  • Address and resolve all legal/business matters, consulting outside counsel as necessary
  • Provide paralegal-type support to outside counsel
  • Manage insurance portfolio and project bonding
  • Coordinate policy renewals, COI collection, and claim management (non-WC)
  • Serve as point of contact for bonding agent
  • Request and file all project bonds
  • Assist department heads and project managers in evaluation and control of risk related to projects
  • Provide templates for and when needed draft formal correspondence to clients
  • Assist with project compliance requirements
  • Serve as point of contact for contract interpretation
  • For live event work, manage contracting/COI collection of event vendors (in excess of normal contracting and insurance duties) and serve as point of contact for the client for these matters
  • Administrative Department Management and Support
  • Work with HR on limited admin/HR matters (employee hire / termination issues, labor-related issues, employee handbook revisions)
  • Maintain occupational licenses, Secretary of State registrations, and contractors’ licenses (as applicable) for LA, AL, MS, DC, KY, NV, TX, MO
  • Manage leases and other real estate obligations
  • Provide executive support to leadership
  • Lead application processes for contractors licenses, tax credits, etc.
  • Perform compliance-related research and offer recommendations
  • Support leadership in sensitive client issues (non-payment, breach of contract, multi-year contract renewal negotiations)
  • Assist with RFP coordination and support
  • Help review and draft content for proposal when appropriate related to potential contract risks
  • Perform research to ensure company eligibility for future projects
  • Office Management (Management of Office Manager)
  • Opening / closing of the office
  • Order, restock, and organize all office supplies and refreshments
  • Receptionist duties (seating/accommodating guests, receive and distribute mail, answer phones)
  • Miscellaneous office-related issues (Trash, parking lot, appliance, building, meeting management)

IDEAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree Required Juris Doctorate preferred
  • Previous contract management and/or paralegal experience;
  • Time management, organizational, multi-tasking, skills
  • Computer literacy and capabilities in G-Suite, Slack, database management;
  • Notary Commission.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
  • The willingness to learn new software and master equipment outside of scope of experience;
  • The ability to work well with others to create and maintain a positive work environment
